First off, I love themed parties and this was a good one. AWOL put a lot of work into the entire party. The stage setup in both rooms was dope. I loved the hearts that were on stage. The lights and lasers were kick ass. The visuals created a great fun atmosphere, and the balloons were a great idea, but they proved to get in the way as the night droned on.
Everyone who played a part in this event did a wonderful job. All the DJ’s were off the hook, and when Jayrod played “Groove is in the Heart” it truly perfected the night.
While I think it was a good idea to have cops there, I think that they also over did it. I saw over ten cops. The best part was seeing them leave and knowing that the part was still going on.
Now, there were a few things I didn’t appreciate. The security was very rude to me. I do understand that they are doing their job, but when it takes me twenty minutes to get to the door to give my friend a ticket, it’s totally not right. I didn’t even need to go out; they turned it into a big deal, and more drama was even experienced with them later.
The bar was also pretty bad. I’m not sure if anyone else experienced it, but I think that they watered down some of the rum drinks as well as others. I had three rum and cokes. Anywhere else I had that many, I would have at least had a slight buzz, if not been drunk by then. I don’t think I’ll ever be paying five bucks for a watered down drink anymore.
Overall, the party was fantastic. The turnout was impressive and everything went as well as it could be planned to, if not better. Major props to AWOL and everyone else who contributed to making it happen. Party on!
